I specialize in cleaning problems from computers, and have so for 7 or 8 years. recently, I have been frustrated by Windows XP Anti-spyware 2008 and similar - my usual programs take a while to get rid of it. I struggled for 3 days trying to figure out why my desktop icons and taskbar were disappearing and re-appearing and my laptop was virtually disabled. I scoured the internet and read dozens of "fixes" none of which worked. I finally narrowed the problem down to the fact that explorer was crashing and restarting every 10 seconds. I discovered the reference to the Vundo virus which was never caught by Webroot even after rescanning. I downloaded the Symantec removal tool which scanned and found nothing on my computer. In desperation I called my IT guy who recommended this program. I downloaded and ran it. It found 75 infected files plus infected registry keys, etc. Over 100 items in all. On reboot the laptop booted with all of the desktop icons back as well as the taskbar. I bought the product and so far so good.

Took care of viri that slipped past Norton 2008! I just registered, at $25 with LIVE PROTECTION, I think its a winner! Light weight, takes 1/4 less resources than Norton, and simply WORKS!

Quick scan seems to rip through more trojans all the time.

I have a few friends that work in home user IT, they all use it and like it.

They say that it detects the majority of the crud on their clinet's machines.

Do a google search for "Trend Micro HijackThis" and MBAM.

Those are security experts from around the world using MBAM to clean up systems in the help forums.
