   Recent tests have shown that Norton is actually better at detecting than Kaspersky, is one of the lightest programs available and the easiest to use. The firewall is quite bad, but is the second best firewall included in a security suite, after Kaspersky. Also, the Norton firewall gets more powerful the longer you use it.

   norton still owes me money for 2005 rebate. they offer rebates then refuse to pay out. then they push their garbage program off like it's useful, knowing full well it the worst thing you could ever put on a computer. then old outdated malware like coolwebsearch shut's down norton like cops on a **********, and starts sending out every bit of information on your computer. while even worst programs like spyware doctor have to clean up nortons mess. on top of the security program running through every bit of your computer it has live updates running constantly, slowing down your computer more. norton is the biggest scam company ever. nothing has ever infected a computer worse than a norton program. every employee should be put in prison for fraud an every person who has ever been taken by a norton product should get their money returned plus interest. norton should make a program called anti-norton virus remover, and they already do. get it now!!!

   Alright, you can by reading my previous reviews know that I have had only bad experiences with Norton products in the past. They were all bloated and slow. But I have to admit that I was extremely suprised and happy after I tried Norton Internet Security 2008. The only reason I decided to give it a try was because my last update with ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite pretty much killed my vista machine. I then re-installed vista and downloaded a free trial of Norton. I have been using it for the past 10 days and have been totally satisfied and plan on purchasing it. I won't do it thru the website instead I plan on going to Bestbuy and getting it for a few bucks cheaper :) Bottom line is this is the best Norton release ever... I never thought I'd leave ZoneAlarm but...Norton here I come!!!

   I went back to using NIS with last year's edition (2007) after discovering that it offered excellent protection while not using a lot of system resources.

With NIS 2008, protection has improved while keeping resource usage low. Anti-virus continues to be among the best available. The firewall has been improved over 2007 to block most outbound leak tests and should now rate as one of the top one or two available. Anti-spyware continues to get high marks, stopping most before they can even install.

With respect to anti-phishing, I'm not sure that NIS offers better protection than what IE and Firefox already offer, but it's there if you want it and can be turned off if you don't (Firefox protection is new for 2008)

   I purchased NIS 2008 after reading some reviews and found that it runs good on my system without taking up unnecessary resources or bogging it down. Install was straight-forward although the program itself has a few quirks and minor setbacks. Ie. setting a custom scan with the antivirus program takes some figuring out and a full system scan isn't run unless you go into this option and ask for it.
Otherwise, I am happy with the program so far and haven't found any real setbacks.
