WinPatrol
15.5.2008 you can clean up
startup programs, taskbar and activeX programs.
The security tool monitors and exposes adware,
keyloggers, spyware, worms, cookies, and other
malicious software. Unlike traditional security
suites ,
WinPatrol
doesn’t require continuous updates. Its
operational process is to some extent
different. The tool wants you to take
control of the actions against threats,
where as common softs take the charge by
themselves. The tool informs you about
running programs as well as monitors
program behaviors.
As
soon as it detects a suspicious process,
it alerts you. There is another
difference between WinPatrol and
traditional antivirus programs. That is -
it doesn't scan your hard drive searching
for previously identified
threats.
Instead, it uses
a heuristic behavioral approach, taking a
snapshot of your critical system resources and
then alerts you to any changes that occur
without your acknowledgement. Version 15.5.2008
features enhanced support for X64 versions of
Windows and reporting features for corporate
users.

It misses nothing! Whatever
tries to install this beauty
stops it dead in it's tracks!
If it's a change in a program
or to a website trying to be
sneaky this ALWAYS asks for
your permission to allow etc! I
use it on both my XP and Vista
Desktops without any grief!
It's a bit like the UAC in
vista! Also folks check out the

FREE VERSION also of which i
use, an all round class bit of
software!

WP offers a
user-friendly interface and gives
solid registry and process
monitoring. It will alert you to
any unauthorized start up programs
and basic keyloggers as well. The
paid version, which offers real
time protection vs polling (once a
minute, half minute, etc) is worth
the price! This program has been a
trusty watchdog for
years. |

Been using this for
a few years now. It's easy on
system resources,very stable
and very informative. However I
believe that with the advent of
many free sophisticated
security programs out now that
Winpatrol is being left behind.
I still have it installed on my
system but only for its
informative value and for
process control. That being
said,other security software
that I'm running gives me
notification on an intrusion
way before Winpatrol does. I
believe that in this day and
age of advanced
malware,trojans,etc. it's more
important then ever to have
constant monitoring (not
periodic) and fast (i.e.
instant)
notification.
